Frequently Asked Questions

lang

1. What is the project about?

The short answer:

A major overhaul of DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that originally started just as a means of appeal towards
Budokai fans, as demonstrated by the infamous decision of removing 20 characters from the roster.
That was the only purpose it served initially, but 3 years down the line led to many other drastic changes.

The long answer:

2. When will it be released?

No promises.

It’s become a running gag at this point, where I come up with a release date,
only for time management (or lack of it, rather) to say otherwise.

First, 21/12/21. Then, 22/01/22.
After that, no more. Life always gets in the way.
And yes, those dates are in DD/MM/YY. Cry about it, America.

Regardless, to ensure maximum quality, I believe I should take my time,
given the numerous things I want to implement, slowly but steadily.

Patience is a virtue. Good things happen to those who wait.

3. Is there a team behind the project?

Much like the case with Modding Revolution, it’s just me working on it.

Although, that isn’t to say I haven’t needed some assistance, which is why
I'd like to thank these fellas for helping out the best way they could:
  • BrendaMarzipan, for providing many inspiring ideas regarding Mission 100 and game balance;
  • KaibaLeo, for providing scenario portraits;
  • Fury916, for providing voice lines from Raging Blast 2;
  • MetalFrieza3000, for providing scenario portraits, audio & other assets from Budokai 3.

4. Will there be a Wii version? What about a
PAL (European) or NTSC-J (Japanese) version?

The short answer:

No, because it’s far out of my reach & interests.

The long answer:

I cannot make a European or Japanese release all by myself.
I only know a decent amount of Spanish, barely any German,
and whatever French I’ve learnt, it got out of my head anyway.

That, and a release for the Wii is just as unlikely, if not more.
Modding the Wii version feels way too limited, in comparison
to what the PS2 version has offered for years.

5. Will you add *insert thing here*?

I appreciate feedback and requests, but only as long as they are constructive.
In other words, nothing too crazy: I’ve already taken enough artistic liberties.

I’ll only add what I deem reasonable, even if it’s stuff like Future Great Saiyaman and Firebrandourine.

I understand the demand for GT Vegeta and whatnot, but what ISO doesn’t have these mods already?

6. Why isn’t there a changelog or a roadmap?

To be honest, I should’ve made one from the beginning, but I didn’t.
It’s too late to go back and keep track of all the changes anyway.

Although, the lack of a changelog will simply encourage the players to find
said changes themselves, thus increasing the replay value and surprise factor.

Also, some of my ideas are too ambitious (like giving every character a halo)
and not worth revealing in a roadmap right away.

Remember: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is a fighting game first, DBZ simulator/sandbox second.

7. Will you release mods from the ISO?

On one hand, it makes sense to give back to the fans for waiting all this time.
On the other hand, I don’t want to give away the whole ISO.
If anything, once I publish it, there will be no need for me to lock it anyway.

So, whatever mods I feel like uploading, or have already uploaded, they will likely be
found in other versions of the game, which make my project stand out even less.

Case in point, the Fusion vs. Potara scenario. Despite having
English voices, I have seen it in a few Latin-American ISOs.

I don’t mind the lack of credit/recognition necessarily, or even the lack of permission
(maybe a bit), but that way of stealing still leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Therefore, I’ll upload whatever I want, whenever I want.
As simple as that.
